Position: Embedded Device Engineer

Sportcor combines the latest in advanced electronics and data analytics with traditional sports equipment. The movement data collected by our sensors in a Cricket Ball (or Baseball, Field Hockey and Lacrosse) deliver highly accurate information such as speed, distance, force and spin on to our platform that lets broadcasters, players, coaches and fans engage with the sport on a whole new level.

We are looking for a professional Embedded Device Engineer to execute and take complete ownership of our devices from development and design through continuous improvement and how they are supported.

Skills:

We are searching for an innovative Engineer who can demonstrate success working with Component suppliers and development teams to deliver new and further developed products in our range. You are likely to have a strong interest and knowledge of sports and be hungry to expand your industry knowledge. You can demonstrate and bring to the company an ability to quickly identify problems and be accountable and trustworthy.

Responsibilities:

Review 3rd party components that will form the core of our solution.
Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
Design, develop, code, test and debug system software.
Review code and design
Analyse and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources.
Integrate and validate new product designs and components.
Support software QA and optimise I/O performance.
Provide post-production support.
Interface with hardware design and development

Requirements:

Proven working experience in software engineering
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
Solid programming experience in C or C++ (others?)
Proven experience in embedded systems design with pre-emptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
Strong documentation and writing skills.

Objectives of this role:
Drive the product and its reliability, and work with suppliers and management to understand the unique positioning of our products and services and determine potential developments of the products to address different markets, whether this is Top Level play or a retail consumer.
Analyse product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they’re met.
Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines to meet Roadmap targets.
Appraise new product and components and strategise appropriately.
